07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Cameron continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are strong (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 5 for 8 with 3B. Behind the plate, feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.15 range with time continuing to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process. He shows great leadership traits behind the dish. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard.

06/03/2018 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Cameron is a scrappy catcher graduating in 2019. In the field, Cameron shows quick feet with an athletic fielding position that allow him to make difficult plays. Cameron gets to his knees quickly when blocking, showing a good downward angle from his chest. His glove stays down as he presents his hands out front and sticks pitches. He shows a short arm action from a 3/4 arm slot and uses his bodys momentum to throw the ball on a line. Cameron can improve defensively by working on faster exchanges and staying in his legs when throwing to a target. At the plate, Cameron shows pop with a gap-to-gap type approach. He shows a square set up with a short stride and a good load. His rhythm is smooth as he keeps his balance center and keeps a firm front half through his swing. Bat speed is fast as he shows a direct swing path to the ball and makes hard contact with extension. Cameron is a talented player that could play at the next level with some fine tuning to his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
