Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

06/19/2008 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - 2008 Conley jumped his top end fastball velocity five mph since we last saw him, up from 77 to 82 mph. It was mostly straight, but he commanded it well to both sides of the plate and down in the zone. He also threw his breaking ball harder, but it still has mostly rolling action - can work to stay looser with his hand and wrist, and to maintain fastball arm speed with it to help improve the rotation and action. His arm worked well on his changeup, maintained fastball arm speed and showed good feel for it. Needs to stay closed longer with his front side - will help him generate more from his lower half as he works down the mound. Showed a good bat path at the plate. Stride foot needs to get down earlier, and he needs to keep his weight back longer. Ran 7.69 in the 60-yard dash. Overall, improved to Class 6 level as a pitcher.

01/27/2008 - College PREP - Miami Shores, FL Cameron is a thin athletic player. From 2B, shows good hands and side to side action. Makes all the plays and has the right idea of the fielding process. Accuracy can improve a little and can be helped by playing through the ball. Swing uses the right bat path and has the ability to utilize the entire field. Needs to better utilize the lower half in order to increase power potential. On the mound, FB has run and has a slight feel for off speed pitches. Delivery is smooth and clean. Arm action is sound. As with the swing, needs to better utilize the lower half to increase power. Overall, Cameron is still young and has plenty of time to improve. He has athleticism and with work, he can improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
