06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Cameron is a strong-built, athletic catching prospect who has talent on both sides of the ball and above average raw skills. Behind the plate, Cameron has a great, low setup with an effective target presented to the pitcher. He moves with agile actions and stays square. He receives the ball with a firm glove and good flex. Cameron has a quick, clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release and accurate throws to 2B with POP times ranging from 1.88-2.03 seconds. As a right-handed hitter, Cameron has an athletic stance with a centered balance. He has a smooth rhythm with a good load and short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Cameron shows fast bat speed with a short, direct swing path consistently landing the barrel to the baseball. He engages his hips nicely and can produce power to each gap. Cameron has a line drive approach and uses the whole field. Overall, Cameron has the ability to impact the game offensively and defensively giving him the potential to be a difference maker at the next level.

04/09/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Cameron continues to show the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.18. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time date at 1.88 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Arm strength is at a pro level (88 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. He will control the running game at the next level with his feet / arm. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick / explosive (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. Lower half works well through the swing and shows plus barrel accuracy with baseball exploding off the bat. Hands work inside the ball and he utilizes all fields with gap to gap pop.

04/10/2016 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Cameron only showed as a catcher at the event and has really improved his baseball tools since the last time we saw him. He has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.35. He utilizes his quick feet in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have really improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.95. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 86 mph. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills are tremendous, showing as plus tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat. Barrel accuracy is outstanding as he will hit and hit to all fields with pop. With 2 years to further develop, Cameron has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball tools.

09/14/2014 - National Tryout - Azusa, CA Cameron showed good athleticism and a lean / fit build behind the plate. Actions are solid, hands are soft, and he fields out in front. He fields aggressively, holds a good target, and throws with a clean arm action to 2nd base. Offensively, Cameron has a balanced set-up, an activated load, and he swings in good rhythm. He stays behind the ball well and uses his lower body well.

01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Cameron is a catcher with a great feel for the game. Behind the plate, he is a solid athlete with good hands and above average blocking skills. His throws show good carry but can improve on his release point for accuracy. Offensively, he shows good strength for his age. His swing is level with good balance and an activated load. He will need to work on keeping his weight centered as well as smooth out his rhythm. Cameron has the potential to be a special player and will excel as he continues to relax and trust his ability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
