Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

06/21/2013 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Cameron continues to show steady play in the abilities in the OF plus on the mound. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper first steps in tracking down balls in the OF. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through and increase foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with balance / rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 82-85 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break and shows potential as being a quality pitch when he stays on top. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Command / control are a plus as throws strikes with all his pitches and changes speeds well. He has a projectable frame and plus makeup as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/24/2013 - College PREP - Bay Area, CA Cameron is an athletic RHP/3B with a ton of athletic abilities that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects better on the mound for the next level but has a lot of potential at 3B. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate through an over the top arm slot. Arm strength is at a near pro level as indicated by his top velocity of 89 mph. Fastball shows a range of 8 mph-89 with solid arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late / sharp break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters but displays good arm side run. Off speed pitches show potential as being quality pitches for the next level. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all of his pitches. At 3B, feet are active / athletic as he works to square balls up, presenting soft / clean hands well out front. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with life / carry as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Greenough shows a balanced, athletic approach with rhythm. He loads well and displays quick hands, flashing bat speed through a level swing path as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power potential is present as he displays strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Cameron has the makings of a special type player that will get looks from the collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his abilities on the mound, possibly as a two-way player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
