05/11/2014 - College PREP - Ashland, VA Cameron continues to show solid skills. At the plate, this RH swinger shows a well balanced approach with good rhythm. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. Defensively, he sits in well and tracks the ball into his mitt, receiving with a stiff wrist and soft glove. On throws down to 2B, he gains ground and works in-line - with pop times still in the low 2.2's. Cameron is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

03/23/2014 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Cameron continues to show as a catcher and has improved some of his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to increase foot quickness. Arm strength has improved with throws displaying accuracy and carry. Pop times show in the 2.24 range with time continuing to drop as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Receiving / blocking tools show as playable tools that will play well at the next level as he continues to develop. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work inside the ball well, utilizing the middle of the field. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more and transfer weight properly.

08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Witte showed behind the plate and on the mound for the first time. Currently, he projects best as a catcher for the next level where he has improved his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Pop times have improved as well as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.20. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Cameron shows an athletic setup and flashes bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph and throws a lot of strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

03/24/2013 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Cameron is talented backstop who can swing the bat. Offensively, this right-handed hitter displays a close setup and solid load. He is short and quick to the ball, delivering the barrel to the zone. There is strength is his swing as he has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. He is a middle of the line-up type of guy who can drive in runs. Defensively behind the plate, Witte sits in well and receives with a soft mitt. On his throws down to 2B, he gains ground and has a quick/clean exchange. Continuing to increase his arm strength will help to lower pop times. As a 2015 graduate, this catcher has a solid skill-set and still has time to improve on his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
