06/16/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Camilo is a well-rounded catching prospect who is a leader on the field. As a switch-hitter, Camilo has balanced skills from both sides of the plate. He has an open stance with a firm front side. Camilo has smooth rhythm with a good load and short, square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has a direct, on-plane swing path and gets good extension. Camilo lands the barrel to the baseball producing square contact. He is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to use all fields. Behind the plate, Camilo has an effective setup and plays the position athletically. He presents a low target and stays square to the pitcher. Camilo receives the ball with a firm glove. He has quick footwork and gains momentum through his release. Camilo throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing strong, accurate throws down to 2B. Overall, Camilo plays the game with quick actions and the right approach giving him a bright future on the diamond.

01/21/2018 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Camilo is a switch hitting catcher who will graduate in 2019. Behind the plate, Camilo has efficient footwork, he covers ground, and sits in quietly. He takes good angles when blocking, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy to 2nd base. Catching skills can improve if Camilo can square up his set-up, gain more ground, and add arm strength. Offensively, Camilo is equally as good from both sides of the plate. He has slightly more pop from the left side. From the right side, he stands in well balanced, has a square stride, and can hit to all fields. From the left, he has smooth actions and some pop in his bat. More lower body and letting the ball travel deeper can help hitting get better. With continued hard work, we look forward to seeing what the future holds for Camilo.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
