01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Campbell is a lean and athletic 2022 2-way prospect. At SS, Campbell is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/ early glove, and squares up to the ball. He creates momentum in his lower half and makes accurate throws. He has good footwork on double plays and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Campbell starts in a relaxed and tall stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, he gets the barrel flat to the ball, and makes contact to all fields. He went 3-6 on the weekend with 3 base hits and was aggressive on the bases. Campbell hunts the fastball and has a middle approach. On the bump, Campbell has good presence, competes, and attacks hitters down in the zone. He creates run on his 4 seamer, he has an 11-5 break on his curveball, and he gets good action on his changeup. Campbell will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Campbell is a lean, athletic SS/RHP who will graduate 2022. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 4 for 9. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-70 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and good depth. Changeup shows cutting action but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 4 years to further develop, Campbell has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
