Official Scouting Report

10/18/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Lexington, KY Lewis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities both on the mound and in the OF. On the mound is where he has improved the most. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 68 mph. Fastball displays plus arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, close to fastball velocities. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. In the OF, defensive grade has improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He shows good body control and displays clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls to play through and increase foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a level swing path with hands works inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively.

06/17/2014 - National Tryout - Charleston, WV Cameron continues to develop on the mound. FB now tops out at 63 mph as he keeps his eyes on the target and works in-line toward the dish. Splitter shows gradual action as he needs to continue to develop feel for it. At the plate, he shows a well balanced approach and waits for his pitch. He takes an aggressive hack and utilizes his lower 1/2 well. Only a 2019 grad - Cameron still has a lot of time to mature and develop his skills on the diamond.

11/14/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Camron is a two-way player that is a OF/RHP. Defensively, he shows good pre pitch prep, he covers ground in the outfield, and gets behind the ball well. He will need to improve his overall foot speed and arm strength to improve grades. On the mound, Camron gathers well at his balance point, his arm is free, and his direction is square and soft. He can improve on the mound by working on his finish, making sure his body stays through his pitches working in line with his target rather than falling off. Towel drill will help with finishing chest over knee. Offensively, Camron displayed good balance with consistent contact. He will need to continue to focus on his back elbow making sure it doesn't get ahead of his body. Overall, Camron shows good fundamentals with room for improvement as he develops strength and quickness in his game.

08/31/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Camron showed great improvement over the weekend, with the ability to be a hitter in the future. He has good size and strength, but will need to fix some mechanical things to become a complete hitter. Camron shows the ability to let his entire body work together during the swing, but the timing of the upper body tends to be to quick. Also, Camron shows ability to use the hands well during the swing, but also shows inconsistency due to his back elbow. Camron's back elbow tends to lead the hands which causes the barrel to be inconsistent, and also causes the barrel to drag and be late at times. By fixing the back elbow, Camron will see great improvements in the swing, due to better barrel control and also more power.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
