01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Cannon continues to show steady progress in his baseball tools. In the MIF, feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / clean and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-80 mph with a 10/4 shape breaking ball with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Cannon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.99. In the MIF, he displays quick, athletic actions. He uses his athletic feet well in his lateral movements displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry (92 mph velocity) as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to show shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) creating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. He throws from a submarine arm slot. Fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as well in attacking hitters and throwing strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great team player.

03/19/2017 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Cannon is a well-built SS/RHP prospect who has a talented skill set and graduates in 2018. Offensively, Cannon has an athletic setup with a centered balanced and firm front side. He maintains direction with his stride and takes a good load. Cannon shows fast bat speed and gets good extension at contact to produce consistent contact. Cannon is a contact hitter who has a line drive approach. In the field, Cannon has a good first step and takes effective angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and stays low through the baseball with a clean exchange. Cannon plays with momentum through the baseball and shows strong, accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, Cannon has an athletic delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He extends through his release and lands closed to home plate. He has good run on his fastball at 77-79 MPH. His changeup is deceptive and he shows good feel for his slider. Overall, Cannon has talent on both sides of the ball and good potential to become an impactful player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
