Official Scouting Report

  • Position Projection

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Canter is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect that works hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at pirate city. In the OF, Canter is aggressive on ground balls and creates angles to the ball. He needs to be on time with his prep step, anticipate the ball off the bat, and increase in routes efficiency. At the plate, Canter starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and creates backside rotation. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact. Keeping a quiet head and hunting the fastball will allow him to have better approach. On the bump, Canter gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm stroke. He works down hill and has a balanced finish. He creates arm side run on his fastball and sits 74-79. Developing a secondary pitch like a change up will allow him to work off the fastball more efficiently. Canter will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

02/10/2018 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Canter is a thin, long legged 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Canter stands over the rubber well, he has good size, and separates on-time. He is around the plate with his pitches, has good glove side lead, and solid direction toward home. More lower body, extension, and working on a downhill plane can help mound effectiveness improve. In the OF, Canter is aggressive to the ball, he has soft hands, and a loose/accurate arm to his target. If Canter can finish his throws more and add arm strength, abilities in the OF can improve. At the plate, Canter has an athletic set-up, good balance and an aggressive swing. He has fast bat speed, he makes square/solid contact, and works the ball gap to gap. More lower body and work in timing can help solid hitting improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
