07/22/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (MS) Cardin is a C/3B in the graduating class of 2026. He shows off good athleticism and some physicality. At the plate, he starts in a wild stance with high hands. Does a good job of creating a simple and repeatable load with some lower 1/2 activation. His barrel gets on plane early as he gets extension through the baseball. Shows an advanced approach with a line drive focus. Behind the plate, he does a good job presenting his glove. His throws down to 2B are accurate with some carry. Throw downs were as quick as 2.56 seconds to 2B. Blocks and receives well with some feel for the strike zone. Cardin is a talented young player that has a bright future with continued development.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Cardin is a 2026 C/3B. Behind the dish, Cardin's primary stance is relaxed with good glove presentation. He does a good job of replacing his feet with good direction towards second base. Works thumb under ball, with a clean transfer, while creating momentum on his throws. Short arm action on his accurate throws and an arm velocity of 66mph and a best pop time of 2.6 seconds. Right-handed hitter, he hits from an even and crouched stance. Starts with a high hand set and a soft/square stride. Gets good rotation towards ball and showed some pull side power with a bat exit velocity of 67mph. With continued growth and development, we foresee Cardin having opportunities to play at the high school level and beyond.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Cardin continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.94 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker.

01/26/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Myrtle Beach, SC Cardin is a young, solid, 2-way player who catches and plays 3rd base. Behind the plate, Cardin has active feet, a presentable glove, and firm hands. He sits in athletically, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a short arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.15 seconds. At 3rd, Cardin has active feet, soft hands, and he creates a good fielding angle. He reads hops well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a quick release to 1st base. Offensively, Cardin has a square stance, he loads well, and he flashes some bat speed. He can spray to all fields and he taps into some lower. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
