Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

07/14/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Carl is an athletic and big bodied 2021 1B/LHP prospect. At 1B, Carl works off the bag and picks the ball well. He presents a low/early glove, has a clean exchange, and makes accurate throws to second. Continuing to improve his first step quickness and working from the ground up will improve his range and overall fielding ability. At the plate, Carl starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He creates separation in his hands, uses his back side, and works behind the ball well. Continuing to keep his head down at contact and getting extension through contact will allow him to attack the inside part of the ball. On the bump, Carl gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. Carl soaks in information and is a competitor. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
