01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Carlos is a strong C prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the plate, Carlos sits in an athletic primary stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. He gains ground on his throws and makes a quick exchange. He gains momentum towards 2B and gets good long hops to the bag. Carlos is smooth moving to block and centers the ball in the middle of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated on time and takes a level swing path. He rotates his core well and makes loud contact, driving to his pull side. Overall, Carlos is a solid prospect who should find success in this, his senior season.

06/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida This athletic catcher shows a bright future on the diamond. Offensively, he has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage with the ball coming off well. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. Pop times showed in the low 2.17 range with accuracy / on line carry on his throws. Carlos has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Fort Myers, FL Carlos is a 2019 catching prospect with a solid build. Behind the dish, Carlos presents a low target and works behind the ball. He leads with his glove to block and controls the ball with his chest. He exchanges the ball in front of his body and creates momentum with his lower half when throwing. At the plate, Carlos gets his front foot down on time and has good pitch recognition. He attacks the inside part of the ball, stays in his legs, and drives the ball gap to gap. Carlos will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
