10/06/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Columbia, MD Carlos continues to shine with his baseball abilities. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Carlos is a 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame, long levers, athletic build with plenty of physical projection remaining. At 1B, he starts with efficient feet and good actions. Creates good fielding angles and showed ability to pick out hops. Long/loose arm action into a high 3/4 release point with accurate/on-line throws to second base at 87mph. A right-handed pitcher who has long levers and a projectible frame. Gathers over the rubber and works with good downhill direction. Throws a FB that topped out at 78mph and a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with medium break. A right-handed hitter, starts with a tall and square stance. Short stride, with an aggressive approach, who gets good extension through contact. Showed power to the pull side with a recorded a bat exit velocity of 89mph. Reached base 3 times in live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Carlos continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick(83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-79 mph with sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Carlos is a tall, solid 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Hands are clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate will arm grade improving as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Carlos has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
