Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Carlos continues to show a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with cutting action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best player he can be, and is a great team player.

11/12/2017 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Carlos is a tall, athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and RHP. Defensively, Carlos has quick/active feet, clean hands, and he attacks the ball aggressively. He fields low, plays through properly, and has a loose/accurate arm with consistency toward his target. On the mound, Carlos has a balanced delivery, good direction, and solid overall mechanics. His arm action is quick and clean, and he finishes in a complete position. More glove side lead, and better off-speed pitches can help mound effectiveness get better. Offensively, Carlos has an athletic set-up, good bat speed, and he stands in well balanced. He has a quiet head, level swing, and pop in his bat. Hitting numbers can get better if Carlos can work on barrel accuracy, timing, and use more lower .

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
