08/02/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Carlos is an athletic/talented 2-way player (1B/LHP) who continues to show well on the diamond. He is a coachable player who can make adjustments quickly. With the bat, this lefty displays an open stance with fluid rhythm to load. He has an aggressive approach and steps into the box looking to swing the bat. He whips the barrel and connects creating hard contact, spraying the ball to all parts of the field (collecting 3 singles and a double at the event). At 1B, he shows active prep and comes to get the GB. He works into a athletic/square fielding position, tracks the ball into his mitt and picks it with soft hands. On the mound, Carlos throws a FB & CB from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a good mound presence and looks to attack hitters. FB tops out at 76 mph with some sink to it. Curveball has 1/7 shape with big break - 64-66 mph. He does a nice job of mixing his pitches and varies his looks/timing, keeping hitters off balance. This 2022 grad has a solid skill-set that should provide success in this his junior year.
