Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Fort Myers, FL Carlos is an intriguing, young LHP/OF prospect. In the OF, Carlos creates good angles on the fly balls, reads the flight of the ball well, and follows through on his throws to the infield. If he continues to increase his mobility/speed he will be able to cut balls off in the gap, keeping singles from turning into doubles, working behind fly balls will allow him to make a stronger/longer throw from the outfield. As a hitter, Carlos has a balanced stance, good approach at the plate, attacks this inside part of the ball, and works the middle well. If he continues to get stronger and increase his ability to free up his back-side, he will be able to drive the ball deep. Being a switch hitter adds tremendous value to his skill set. On the mound, Carlos hides the ball well, stays on target, drives his lower half toward the plate, and works both sides of the plate with his 4seam and 2 seam fastballs. If he continues to lengthen his arm stroke, stay strong on his front leg, and follow through in his delivery, he will be able to be more consistent down in the zone. Developing his breaking ball will elevate his abilities as a south paw as well.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
