At 2B, he works to center the ball and make routine plays. Does a good job of working from right to left as he keeps balls in front of him. He made accurate throws to first base from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 70mph. On the mound, he is centered, with a relaxed leg lift, and works down the mound. He does a good of attacking the strike zone and keeps the ball down. Attacks hitters with a FB topping out at 75mph with some tailing action, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth. In 3 innings of work, Carson punched out 4 hitters and induced soft contact. At the plate, he sets up in an athletic and even stance with loose hands. Has a controlled load with activated hands. Showed ability to get on-plane early with good barrel control. He hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph during BP. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
