10/18/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Santa Rosa, CA Carson is a LHH 2-way player as a C/3B who has power at the plate. Offensively, this lefty shows a balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. He works back into a loaded position, whips the barrel with quick hands and connects with pop (exit velocity = 80 mph). He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. Behind the dish, Carson sits in well presenting a low target. He moves well laterally and centers pitches off of his chest. Throws down to 2B are accurate - pop times of 2.13. At 3B, Carson shows active footwork and hustles into a square fielding position. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Contact points
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Swing path
Catching
1. Blocking
2. Arm strength (long toss)
Infield
1. Lateral range
2. Glove presentation

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
