01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Carson is a skilled athlete who continues to progress. Offensively, this RHH displays an athletic setup with active hands and good separation in his load. He fires the barrel through a level path and works to engage his lower 1/2, creating pop off of his barrel and driving the gaps. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He blocks pitches in the dirt centering the ball off of a soft chest. Throws to 2B are on the bag coming from a smooth transfer/exchange. Carson is a talented prospect who possesses the tools that will play at the next level.

10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Carson is a proven hard worker who continues to improve. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and rhythm. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the low 2.00 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play at the next level. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved as well through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and uses his lower half well with baseball exploding off bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
