12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Carson is a coachable RHP/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the West Coast Winter Classic. On the mound, Carson gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Carson shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph. Breaking ball sits from 47-51mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 51-53mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Lengthening his arm action can help Carson improve as a pitcher. In the field, Carson fields the ball out in front of his body and makes accurate throws to his target. Carson can improve defensively by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He takes a smooth swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact. Driving his lower half more can help Carson improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Carson has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
