02/23/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Dayton, OH Carson is a 2-way player as a SS/RHP. Defensively at SS, Carson shows good prep footwork and gets into a square fielding position. He maintains athletic actions, plays through the ball smoothly, and has a quick exchange to throw. With the stick, Carson is a switch hitter who shows a well balanced approach. He delivers the barrel with plus bat speed and connects with the ball, driving it on a line. On the mound, this RHP works through a smooth delivery with a free/fluid arm action. He finishes out over his front side and lands square. FB tops out at 66 mph while showing some arm side run. CH is thrown with FB arm-speed and is thrown for strikes. He also throws a knuckleball to round out his repertoire. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
