09/16/2020 - Pathway AZ Underclass - 16U Carson continues show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 63-64 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Carson continues to shine on the diamond. He did show for the first time at the event. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 8. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 58-63 mph. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

11/24/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Shreveport, LA Carson is a thin, 2-way player who plays 3B and catcher. In the INF, Carson has active feet, a low fielding position, and he fields aggressively. He funnels well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and momentum from a short arm action across the diamond. Behind the plate, Carson has active feet, a presentable glove, and he sits in squarely. He has firm/strong hands, a clean exchange, and an accurate arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.6 seconds. Offensively, Carson has an open stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, a direct swing path, and he hits line drives with power in his stick. Carson is a talented young player who can get even better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
