Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Carson is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect that was eager to learn. In the OF, Carson makes the routine play and makes accurate throws to the plate. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, improve his reaction off the bat, and work behind the ball. At the plate, Carson starts in a squared stance, gets his front foot down on time, and makes consistent contact to all fields. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive. Keeping his head down at contact and hitting off a firm front side will prevent him from opening up his front shoulder as well. On the bump, Carson shows confidence, he attacks hitters in, and throws strikes. His fastball has occasional run and he cuts his changeup. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a good stride length. He needs continue to ride his back leg toward the plate and work north to south in his delivery. Carson will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/15/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Fargo, ND Carson is a tall, lean, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Carson has a clean arm action, good balance, and he separates on time. He keeps his eyes on target, gets good pivot off his back foot, and competes in the zone with his pitches. In the OF, Carson tracks the ball well, he takes proper angles, and plays through with a good crow hop to his target. Offensively, Carson has a square set-up, a level swing, and he hits hard to the pull side. He will need to work on the following in order for skills to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
