06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Carson is a (6'4"/215) corner infielder who can swing it. At the plate, he has strong, centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He shows tremendous power, crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 93 mph). At 3B, Carson has plus lateral range for a big guy, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. His glove transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. On the mound, this righty has a 3 pitch arsenal to keep hitters guessing. His FB jumps out of his hand and shows some sinking action at 85mph. His changeup is solid as he throws it with smooth FB arm speed, helping to create deception. His breaking ball displays 11-5 shape with late break. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. A projectable 3B, Carson will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Carson is a big, physical (6'3"/200) 2017 grad who swings the bat with authority. He accelerates the bat through the zone with strong hands and natural leverage leading to hard contact with some lift. He flashed some power in Arizona with a double over the left fielder's head. At 3B Carson is a dependable fielder with a feel for the position. He makes all the plays and has plenty of arm across the diamond. Power bats are hide to find, so Carson is an intriguing prospect who should garner quite a bit of attention over the next few years.

10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Carson Seymour is a high ceilinged prospect with a great baseball frame at 6'4/190. Offensively, he was fluid getting to his hitting position with strength & balance, and he hit off a stiff front side for exceptional leverage. He generated good bat speed with loose actions and collected a pair of doubles and a single on the week. There is more in his lower half that he can tap into to begin finding more and more power. Defensively, he works low to make plays, despite his long/proportioned frame, and throws with carry across the infield. His hands are subtle and he works his feet to field and throw with flashes of fluidity. Carson also jumped on the bump to throw a FB and 11/5 CB. His frame and presence alone help his ability and he could have a future up there as well. All in all - Carson is a legitimate prospect that excels with natural ability and body.

04/12/2015 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Carson is a strong, athletic 3B that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process and he plays through with momentum to his target. He shows a feel for the backhand with defensive grade continuing to improve as he presents hands more out front and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Carson has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
