02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Carson is a 2022 OF. Tall frame athletic build with plenty of physical projection remaining. Primary OF, shows good 1st steps and athleticism. Takes good routes with quick jumps in the outfield and works low through the ball well. Accurate arm with good carry at 86mph to the infield. Right-handed hitter, hits from an even and tall stance. Swings hard and has good present bat speed with some strength in his hands, middle of the field/line drive stroke at present but promises some power as he matures. Projects well as a hitter. Two years of continued growth and development will bode well for his career at the next level.

07/14/2020 - All-In Membership - Lake Elsinore (Los Angeles), CA Carson is a hard working, athletic OF who continues to progress every time that we see him. At the plate, this righty maintains a balanced approach with simple/quiet actions. Swing path is short/direct to and through the zone as he connects and hits hard line-drives back up the middle of the field. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and tracks down balls hit to his right and left. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and makes strong/accurate throws with carry (84 mph) into his target. Carson has a solid all-around skill-set that will make an impact in this his junior year.

12/15/2019 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Carson continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an athletic, crouched setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angels in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/18/2019 - 2019 UA SoCal Classic Underclass Participant Strong, athletic baseball build. He had a very repeatable inside the ball swing and could barrel up the ball to all fields. Took an aggressive swing without being out of control as well. Played multiple positions on the day and showed above average defense at both first base and centerfield. Was constantly hustling around the field and to his position. When he is ready for college, he will be a versatile and well rounded player.

07/09/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Carson is a coachable OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the California Select Training & Competition. In the field, Carson takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance with his hands held low. He drives through well with his lower half and takes a level swing, leading to solid contact to all fields. With three more years to develop, Carson has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/09/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Thousand Oaks, CA Carson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as well. He shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He makes the routine plays and flashes a clean exchange to throw, keeping his throws consistently on-line to his target. Carson can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front and playing through with his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and maintains center balance. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help him improve as a hitter. Overall, Carson is a developing prospect who has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

02/25/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Santa Barbara, CA Carson is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and RHP. Defensively, Carson has active feet, he presents his glove well, and makes plays on balls hit his way. He has a clean exchange, a long arm action, and a quick release with good accuracy to his target. On the mound, Carson has a balanced delivery, he gets good extension on his pitches, and lands in a complete position. Offensively, Carson has a tall/square set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He keeps his eyes still, gets some extension through the ball, and makes consistent contact. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
