Official Scouting Report

  • Position Projection

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Carson is a young two way player who works well right and left in the infield at 2B. He plays nice and low and continues to make all routine plays. He fields the ball out in front but can improve on his double play feeds and footwork. On the mound, Carson is well balanced, stays in line well toward the plate and works with a good tempo. He will improve as a RHP as he develops and strengthens his arm and working on letting his backside finish through. Offensively, Carson uses his backside through the ball well, has a strong load and top hand as well as a solid middle approach. Working on his ability to drive off speed pitches and strengthen his hands will allow him to see much improvement in the box. Carson is a quiet, polite kid and will continue to improve each time out.

09/27/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Carson is a young, 2-way player as a 2B/RHP. At 2B, he shows active prep footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He moves well laterally and makes the plays. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Barrel delivery is level as he drives his lower 1/2. On the mound, Wiler throws a FB & CH from a 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and works in line. He repeats his delivery well and keeps his eyes on the target. FB tops out at 54 mph as it has occasional movement.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
