Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

03/24/2019 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Carter is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 3B, Carter shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and takes a direct swing, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Carter gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Carter shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Carter is a talented prospect who should find success throughout his sophomore season.

02/10/2019 - College PREP - Douglasville (Atlanta), GA Carter is a solid, strong 3B/RHP with a bright future ahead on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best displaying well above average hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight cutting action. With 2 years to further develop, Carter has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
