04/16/2023 - National Showcase - York, PA Carter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting /power potential has improved through a closed setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball shows a range of 72-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/03/2022 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at the Jackie Robinson Sports Complex Carter is a versatile player who can play the infield, catch, and pitch. His hitting continues to be a strength for him. He has excellent timing, loose hands, a simple load, and a nice level swing path. This allows him to be a consistent line drive type hitter. He also has some power potential. Defensively, he presents his hands, has a good first step, and gets rid of the ball quickly with an effective short arm stroke. He is a coachable player and a good teammate. With three years of high school baseball remaining, he has a good ceiling and will continue to show improvement as he matures and his athletic numbers follow suit.

04/24/2022 - National Evaluation and Tryout - York, PA Carter is a RHP/C in the 2025 class. Behind the plate, he has active feet and is square in his stance. Has a quiet glove and a clean pocket. Produces accurate feeds to the bag (2.25 pop time) and throws are on a line. At the plate, he has above average pitch recognition and above average bat speed. He has a square set-up and is on-time with the pitch. Loads his body properly and stays inside his feet well. Has a direct swing path and produces hard contact from gap-to gap. Overall, Carter is a solid player and with 4 years to work on his game, he will turn into a college prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
