Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

10/01/2023 - National Showcase - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Carter is a 6 ft/165 OF/RHP in the 2026 class. In the field, he shows athletic movements with quick and active feet (7.18 runner). He covers his defensive zone well and achieves a squared fielding position. Likes to work behind the baseball and displays glove feel with clean exchanges. Arm is loose at 80 velo and is accurate to his targets. At the plate, he is an aggressive hitter with strong hands. He begins with a tall and athletic stance and gains a squared stride to be on-time with the baseball. Hits off a firm front side and shows a direct bath with 81 exit velo. He has a line drive approach and can use all fields. Carter did not pitch at this event to protect a sore arm. Overall, he is an athletically framed two-way player with a bright future.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Carter is a 2026 OF who showcased his skills at the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. In the OF, he gets good reads on balls off the bat, with active feet, and shows ability to run down baseballs. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot into infield with an arm velocity up to 77mph. Throws were accurate with good carry. At the plate, he hits from a tall and even stance with high hands. Starts with activated hands and fluid timing to his swing. He hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. During the games, he reached base 5 times with a double, a single, and 3 walks. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Carter having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Carter is a team player who plays OF/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Alabama. Defensively, he tracks and covers ground well to try and work behind/through the baseball to set up his throws to be accurate to his target with carry on the ball. At the plate, he has a balanced set up which allows him to drive to a firm front side and work the ball to all fields in his approach. On the mound, he displayed decent mechanics by breaking on time and working in line towards his target with a controlled landing. He threw two pitches, a fastball that topped out at 67 mph and a breaking ball that ranged from 50-52 mph. Carter could benefit from programs/drills such as long toss, bands, speed, strength and flexibility.

10/17/2021 - All-In Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Carter is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame lean build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, works to keep ball in front with ability to make routine plays. He tries to field ball out front with a good glove angle. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 71mph into infield. At the plate, he starts with an athletic and even stance. Quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Has good balance at contact and gets on-plane early. A direct barrel path enables him to spray balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 64mph during BP. On the mound, he gets to a good balance point and works down the slope of the mound towards his target. He lands square and rotates to his target. He throws a FB that sits 65-66mph, a 12/6 shaped breaking ball with good depth, and a splitter with good downward action. SPL was best pitch during his bullpen. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
