06/30/2014 - College PREP - Erie, PA Cross continues to impress on the diamond. This R/R athletic OF puts on a show when he takes the field. From a very strong arm (88 mph) to lightning quick speed (6.85) he is fun to watch. Defensively, he works behind the ball and plays through it fluidly with clean actions. Throws have plus backspin and carry as he is right on the money into his target. With the bat, he has a simple/relaxed approach with smooth rhythm. Barrel delivery is quick to and through the zone as he uses the entire field. On the mound, Carter pounds the zone through smooth tempo. FB cracks the mitt at 88 mph and he works to stay on top and work downhill. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape and late/sharp break which will serve as a good out pitch as he's able to locate it well. A 2016 grad - Carter has a high ceiling and will make things happen every time he steps onto the field.

07/01/2013 - College PREP - Erie, PA Carter is an exciting young prospect with plus skills all-around. He shows plus abilities offensively, defensively and on the bump. On the mound, FB ranges from 83-86 mph and shows run and hard/late action. CB is 'nasty' displaying 12/6 break and tight spin. He works the ball around the plate with the ability to paint the corners. In the OF, Carter has speed (6.85 60 yard dash) and shows plus range. He works through the ball well and makes strong/accurate throws that show carry toward his target. As a hitter, he has good rhythm, gets into a solid loaded position and has good hand separation. He drives through the ball with good hip torque and creates extension through contact. As only a 2016 graduate, Carter has a very bright future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
