Official Scouting Report

10/09/2013 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Carter showed well during his time in Arizona. In the INF, he is aggressive and shows quick actions. He is a scrappy player who hustles after anything hit his way. Although a 2B, Carter is versatile an can play all around the INF. Offensively, he is a line-drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play consistently. He uses his lower 1/2 well and creates extension through contact. Carter is a 'gamer' who brings his all to the field every day.

07/15/2013 - College PREP - Plano, TX Carter is an athletic 2B that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.15 60 time. Defensive abilities are superior as he utilizes his quick feet well in attacking ground balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / clean / sure and he shows big play potential in the MIF. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Linck shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball and utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Carter has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
