Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Carter is a high energy 2B/RHP that showed mature abilities. At 2B Carter had active footwork with good range and fielded the ball athletically. His hands are soft, and he makes quick and clean exchanges making accurate throws around the infield. Carter showed an athletic, slightly open stance with loose hands at the plate. He had fluid rhythm with a smooth swing making consistent contact. He shows a good hit ability and his power shows to the pull side. On the bump Carter has a FB/CH mix with a FB at 57-62 and a CH with some good movement. In his mechanics he gathers well and separates on time with a loose arm action. He strides in line and rotates his chest forward with good follow through. Working on long toss and agility will really help Carter improve his game. Carter showed high enthusiasm for the game and is always asking questions to improve his ability.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Carter is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Carter takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with life through his target. Carter can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a soft stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Continuing to add strength can help Carter improve as a hitter. On the mound, Carter gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Carter shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph with sinking action. Changeup sits from 55-56mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Carter can improve as a pitcher by extending through his release more. With six more years to develop, Carter has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/13/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Honolulu, HI Carter is a 2B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the field, Carter shows fluid footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He shows fluid rhythm and makes solid contact to all fields. On the mound, Carter gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest square. Carter shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph. Change-up sits from 52-54mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
