12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Carter is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. On the mound, Carter works with a good tempo as he comes to a balance point over the rubber and extends through on his release. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits at 66mph with 3-9 break. Changeup sits at 63mph as he throws with fastball arm speed. Carter can improve as a pitcher by loosening his arm action. In the field, Carter shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Carter can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets into his load well. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed and makes solid contact. Carter can improve as a hitter by striding square towards the pitcher. With four more years to develop, Carter has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
