Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Carter is a high energy 2-way player at RHP/SS. Pitching, Carter shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and KN. The FB shows some tail, CB is 10-4, and the KN is deceptive with FB arm speed and tumble. He starts square on the mound with simple movements gathering well over his backside. He separates on time with a clean arm action keeping his shoulders in line with proper stride length and landing. A stronger core will allow Carter to repeat his mechanics more often. At SS, Carter shows an athletic ready position on the balls of his feet. He works hard to get into a good fielding position. His arm strength can improve with long toss but shows the upside to be able to throw from multiple arm slots. Hitting, Carter shows an open stance with comfortable hands as he works hard to get the barrel on plane showing the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Becoming more agile will benefit Carter greatly. Carters mental toughness and drive will serve him well in his development process.

05/12/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Carter is a tall, lean, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Carter has good pre-pitch actions, efficient footwork, and he fields in a square position. He makes plays consistently, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy from a short arm to his target. On the mound, Carter has a loose/clean arm circle, he uses his lower body, and gets good extension with a complete finish toward home plate. At the plate, Carter has a crouched/open stance, he swings in good rhythm, and he gets the bat through the zone well. He hits line drives, gets good extension, and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Infield
1. Aggressiveness
2. Glove extension
Pitching
1. Finish
2. SL
3. Control
Offense
1. More lower body
2. Let ball travel
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
