Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament At Carter's most recent outing with Factory, he showed as a 3B/RHP with improved measurables, showing a nice upward trend of growth! Offensively, he had a quiet head and worked the middle of the field with his approach. He was short with his stride and on-time, giving way to smooth rhythm and timing. He had centered balance and with the aforementioned quiet head, was able to make consistent contact. Over at the hot corner, he worked his feet pre-pitch and had good glove feel. He made adjustments to hops easily with his low fielding position and presented hands. On the mound, his outing was cut a little short due to an arm injury, but he showed good control and worked in-line to his target with a clean finish. In all - we enjoyed seeing Carter as always, and look forward to seeing his next steps of growth when we see him again in the future!

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Carter is a 3B/RHP that competed at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. At 3B, Carter shows athletic movements with effective footwork. He shows good technique on the GS/BH ball and fields athletically and low with relaxed hands. His exchanges are clean as he works to throw getting rid of the ball with a loose arm action and accuracy. As Carter grows and gets stronger his arm strength will improve. At the plate, Carter sets up in a square stance with loose hands and gets his foot down on time. He does a good job getting on plane with the pitch and shows a consistent line drive approach making hard contact. On the mound, Carter shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CB combo. Learning a changeup will allow him to improve his arsenal as a pitcher. Pitching, he works out of the stretch and gathers over the rubber well as he works down the mound, he lands controlled and finishes to the target. Carter is young and will continue to grow and mature.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Carter continues to show a promising future on the diamond and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 2 for 3. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 60 mph. Fastball showed a range of 55-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is a plus as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/08/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Carter is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. In the field, Carter shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes his stride on time. He takes a direct swing and leads well with his lower half, leading to solid contact. On the mound, Carter gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He extends through his release and finishes square towards the plate. Carter shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 55mph. Breaking ball sits from 40-42mph with 9-3 break. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

3. Quicker release
Hitting
1. Smoother load
2. More extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
