11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Carter is a coachable RHP/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training & Competition at Pirate City. On the mound, Carter works with a good tempo and controls his pitches well. His fastball tops out at 60mph with cutting action. Carter can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. In the field, Carter shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields the ball out in front and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Carter improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and takes aggressive hacks. Carter can improve as a hitter by taking a more level swing path to the ball. With five more years to develop, Carter has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Carter is a versatile RHP/3B prospect who has a well-rounded skill set. On the mound, Carter has balanced, on-time mechanics and he picks up his target early. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot and extends through his release. Carter effectively uses his front side and has a controlled landing. He works to change speeds and fill up the strike zone. Offensively, Carter has a square setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has a load with a long stride. Carter has an upward swing path and is developing bat speed. He flashes the ability to deliver hard contact to the gaps. Carter shows solid results to the pull side of the field. In the field, Carter plays with effective pre-pitch actions and good footwork. He fields the ball in a square position with a firm glove. Carter has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent across the diamond and can benefit from playing through the baseball. Overall, Carter has a solid approach on both sides of the ball and can take his game to the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
