02/26/2022 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (MS) Carter Watson, 1B/RHP 2026, Northern Bedford HS (Broad Top, PA) Hitting Notes: - Big, Strong and Powerful RHH - Ball jumps off his bat - Plus Bat Speed - Can get too flat at times - Loses posture at contact on border pitches Pitching: - Good Command of his FB (62-64mph) - CB (53-54mph) projects as a good pitch, solid 10-6 movement - Should focus on either a CB or SL until one has become staple pitch - Keeps eyes down on target - Continue to develop CH (51-52mph)

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Carter is a coachable C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Spring Pro Training Experience. Behind the dish, Carter sits in a square stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he works to make accurate throws to the 2B bag. He centers dirt balls in the middle of his body and keeps the ball in front of him. On the mound, Carter gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm, staying inline toward the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph. Breaking ball sits from 52-53mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 53-54mph. Developing his athleticism can help Carter improve his overall baseball abilities. Overall, Carter is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/07/2020 - Pittsburgh Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend Carter is a C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Pittsburgh Skills Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance with comfortable hands. He gets into a simple load and swings with intent, driving the ball to his pull side. Engaging his lower half more can help Carter produce more pop off the barrel. On the mound, Carter gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He competes on the bump and keeps his pitches around the zone. Carter shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 57mph. Curveball sits at 57mph with 12-6 break. Slider sits from 48-49mph. Carter can improve his pitch command by striding inline toward the plate. With six more years to develop, Carter has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
