Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

04/10/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Carter is a 2023 OF/RHP out of Ellicott City, MD. Defensively, he showed smooth actions with the ability to track down fly balls. He fielded the ball cleanly and worked through the ball with momentum. His throws were consistent to the bases and had good life through the cuts. As a hitter, he uses a tall stance with a strong load to fire his lower half through the zone. His strong lower half allows for him to half explosive bat speed with an on plane swing. He does a good job of going with the pitches and makes hard consistent contact to all fields. On the hill, he keeps his front side closed and on line while separating on time with a quick clean arm action. He works downhill with a 3 pitch mix of fastball, slide and change up. Carter is a talented prospect who we believe has the skills to advance to the next level if he continues to develop.

03/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Carter is a 2023 RHP/OF. Tall frame athletic build with projectible frame with room for added strength moving forward. Primary RHP with long levers and projectible frame. Works exclusively from the stretch with good direction down the mound towards plate. FB was up to 80mph with more in there once he incorporates his lower half. Mixes a 10/4 slider and a cutter with late breaking movement. Secondary OF that moves well in the outfield creating good angles and working behind ball. Gets good reads off bat and his first step allow him to make plays in all directions. Smooth arm action from a 3/4 arm slot with plenty of carry and accuracy. Carter had a raw arm velo of 83mph. A right-handed hitter who starts with an upright stance and low hand set. Short and quick to the ball and showed ability to hit balls hard into both gaps. With 3 more years to develop and grow, Carter should continue to improve his skillsets.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
