11/15/2009 - College PREP - Miami Shores, FL Casey is a lean, good sized athlete who plays CF. In the OF, he has good footwork, hands, and a loose arm. Casey takes good direction to the baseball, and he works behind it well. He has a good idea in the OF, and could get even better by improving his foot speed. At the plate, Casey has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He shows potential offensively, and is able to hit the baseball to all fields. Casey's offensive numbers could improve if he can widen his stance a bit, and work to get his front foot down a bit sooner. Overall, Casey is a solid OF, with good tools.

10/14/2009 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2009 Casey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive abilities in the OF are now well above average as he utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track down balls in the OF. He shows plus instincts as he reads balls well off the bat as he works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target as he is a solid defender that can play all 3 OF spots. Arm strength shows some carry as he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Dart continues to show a solid approach with a plus feel for the barrel. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to load more, transferring weight from the backside into a firm front. A plus tool for Casey is his attitude and work ethic as he strives to be the best he can be as he will get looks from the collegiate coaches with baseball abilities.

06/13/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Dart improved his 60-yard dash time by more than a half second, down from 7.55 to 7.03. In addition, his hitting ability showed far better than we saw previously. He stood in the box well, and showed rhythm to hit. He did a good job of working his hands and the barrel to contact on a route from the inside. His strike zone discipline was very good, and he showed an advanced two-strike approach. Can work to use his lower half better, has better bat speed and life in his swing than he has shown so far. Defensively, he showed good feel for his position along with a good first step and good overall life in his feet. Can work to improve his arm strength, mainly needs to improve the carry on his throws. On the mound, he threw his fastball 76-77, and also showed a 68-70 curve with tight spin and some depth to downward break. He threw a lot of strikes, and has room to improve the lower body action and direction in his delivery. Has much more value as a position player, with an outside chance to develop further on the mound.

01/25/2009 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Casey is a lean player, who showcased as a decent outfielder. He topped out his throws at 82 MPH and has good speed on the field. In the outfield, Casey has nice carry on his ball while staying on top and keeping his throws straight. Casey stays behind the ball on fly's and plays through to make a good approach. He has the right idea in the field. In the batters box Casey has quiet mechanics while spraying the ball to all parts of the field. Casey needs to improve on creating more bat speed, and using his overall body to produce power.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
