07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Casey continues to shine on the diamond. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 81-83 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for the pitch with sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball, spraying to all fields. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/21/2021 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Casey is a LHP from Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory who will graduate in 2022. This talented and athletic left-handed pitcher shows good mechanics and feel for the game on the mound. Threw his entire arsenal from a high ¾ arm slot with good tempo. He showed the ability to fill up the strike zone consistently and landed 71% of his pitches for strikes. His fast ball sat in the 80-82 MPH range, while he used both his curveball with 2-8 shape and his changeup with some depth to keep hitters off balance. Created weak contact often and did a very good job of challenging hitters and pitching to contact, which allowed him to work more efficiently. Casey is a good player who with continued development should have some chances to pitch at the next level.

03/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Casey is a 2022 LHP/OF. Tall frame athletic build with square shoulders, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Left-handed pitcher with long levers and projectible frame. Does a good job of staying tall and working down the mound. 3/4 arm release allows him to get good arm side run on his pitches. Mixed in a 1/7 shaped curveball and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. As Casey incorporates his lower half, as well as a long toss throwing program, his arm strength and command will improve. Secondary OF, moves well in the outfield on feet and takes nice angles to ball. Fields the ball out front and works through it, loose arm action with a 3/4 release point. Hits from the left side with a tall and even stance. Quick hands and good extension through contact. Ball jumps off the barrel, with an exit velocity of 86mph, who showed ability to make hard contact into both gaps. Has a bright future at the next level with continued development and growth.

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Casey continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (85 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively and shows big play potential. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers (7.25 60 time) a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (87 mph exit velocity) as he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. He has an excellent event, going 4 for 5 with a 2B and 2 3B. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Fastball shows good sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/30/2020 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Casey continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate he continues shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 8. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/23/2020 - All-In Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Casey continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. With the bat, this LHH shows a square setup with rhythm to load getting his hands back into a strong launch position. He tracks pitches into the zone, takes an aggressive hack and connects with some pop (exit velocity = 83 mph). In the OF, he has active footwork and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. He secures the ball with soft hands and has a clean transfer to throw. Throws display accuracy and zip (84 mph velocity) to his target. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-79 mph with sink. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/08/2019 - College PREP - Martinez, CA Casey is a tall 2022 LHP/OF prospect who showed at this session that he can handle himself at 1B as well. At 1B, Casey shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He fields with a firm glove and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws on-line to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Casey improve as a 1B. In the OF, Casey fields in a square position and gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Casey can improve as an OF by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Keeping two hands on the bat through his finish can help Casey improve as a hitter. On the mound, Casey's fastball ranged from 71-75 mph and he showed two above average offspeed pitches as well. He located a 2/8 curveball (57-61 mph) consistently, and mixed in a changeup with arm side movement (61-65 mph) for strikes, too. Delivery is under control and timing is good. Clean arm and good extension. Overall, Casey is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

09/25/2019 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Casey continues to shine on the baseball diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/17/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Casey is an athletic LHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose / clean to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 71-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he continues shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Casey has a big upside on the mound and is a sure player to follow.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
