Official Scouting Report

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Casey is a projectable (6'0"/150) RHP will fills up the strike zone. He steps onto the rubber and is looking to win battles against hitters. FB sits in the low 80's with good arm-side run as he works to keep the ball down in the zone and get groundball outs. He sets up hit off-speed pitches well by working the zone. CB shows to be best off-speed pitch as it has 10/4 shape (62-66 mph). Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed which helps to create deception as it has occasional sink. Tewey is a 2020 grad who will compete every time that he toes the rubber. He has upside with still time to develop.

10/14/2018 - College PREP - Uniondale (Long Island), NY Casey is an athletic RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Casey gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose, quick arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing square to his target. Casey shows a good four pitch mix with his four seam fastball topping out at 82mph with sinking action. Two seam fastball tops out at 80mph with good arm side run with good depth. Breaking ball sits from 65-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 71-73mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Casey is a talented prospect on the mound who should find success in this, his junior season.

12/10/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Casey is a tall, thin, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Casey has quick feet, agile movements, and he fields in an athletic position. He takes proper angles to the ball, fields cleanly, and throws accurately from a loose arm action to his target. Defensive skills can improve with more pre-pitch actions, a more sure glove, and playing more through the ball. On the mound, Casey has a loose/clean arm action, he keeps his eyes on target, and he lands in a square position. He separates on-time, and competes in the zone with his pitches. A better finish, more balance point, and more extension on his pitches can help mound effectiveness improve. At the plate, Casey has a square set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He has a level swing path and puts the bat on the ball. Hitting can improve if Casey can loosen his actions, work on timing, and add bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
