12/14/2019 - Nor Cal Regional Pitching/Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Casey is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. Behind the plate, Casey shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a short swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and great gap to gap pop. Overall, Casey is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his senior season.

07/24/2019 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Casey is a talented 2020 C with a hose behind the dish. (90 mph raw velo) Casey sets up in an athletic stance behind the plate presenting quiet hands. His secondary is athletic, as he throws to second, he gains ground with quick exchanges delivering the ball with accuracy and carry. (2.03 pop time) He shows off his athleticism blocking and keeping the ball in front. Casey shows the ability to drive balls hard (93 mph exit velo) and shows a good gap to gap approach. He sets up with comfortable hands getting a soft stride. His swing is smooth with fast bat speed and controls the barrel well to hit to all fields. Casey showed to be a mature leader behind the plate showing a hard-nosed competitiveness and a good attitude.

01/27/2019 - College PREP - San Jose, CA Casey is an athletic and talented 2020 Catching prospect. Behind the dish, Casey is in a relaxed primary and slightly staggered secondary stance. When receiving, he works behind the ball, stays quiet, and controls the ball down in the zone. When blocking, he leads with the glove and creates a good angle over the ball. When throwing, he has a clean exchange, creates momentum with his lower half, and has a quick release. At the plate, Casey starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He creates backside rotation, hits off a firm front side, and stays balanced through contact. Casey is a line drive hitter that shows gap to gap power. Casey is a projectable player and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
