06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Casey continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities are at a pro level. He attacks balls, plays through well, and presents soft / sure hands out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate. he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat centered and utilizes all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/29/2017 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Casey is a lean, athletic 2018 SS prospect who looks the part and has a good feel for the game. He is a very reliable defender at short with the ability to make all of the plays and make strong throws across the diamond. He shows good rhythm and natural actions with fluid footwork and agile lateral movements to show extended range. His hands are soft to field in a low position and are quick to exchange and throw to get rid of the ball and make good DP turns. He repeats his swing at the plate with good feel for hitting and the barrel. He is quiet at the dish and uses a strong lower half while working directly to the ball. He makes consistent contact and gets extension through the ball to drive it and spray the ball to all fields. Getting his hands started earlier will allow him to catch up to velocity and get to the inside pitch easier. Casey is a prospect we are excited to continue watching.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
