10/24/2021 - All-In Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Cason is a C prospect who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame, with broad shoulders, athletic build with strength present. At C, he has an easy sit, with efficient feet, and presents a low target. Good lateral movement, with good blocking angles, and centers the baseball. Works thumb under, with a high exchange, into an over the top release point with on-line throws to second base. Arm velocity was up to 83mph and his best pop time was 2.15 seconds. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic and square stance. Gets a good rear hip coil, with a square stride, and ability to control the barrel. A flat barrel path as he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 83mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see Cason making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/14/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Frisco (DFW), TX Cason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.40. He presents a low target through a solid setup and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner to improve grade. Hitting / power potential have improved through an open, athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his more efficiently through his lower half.

12/15/2018 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) Cason is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Texas Skills Weekend. Behind the plate, Cason sits in a relaxed primary stance and presents a good target. He gets into his secondary stance on time and gains ground on his throws. He makes a clean exchange and creates good momentum to 2B. He is agile moving on time to block and covers up well. Taking better angles to the ball when blocking can help Cason improve as a C. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives his lower half through well. He gets good extension through the ball with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and solid power. Cason can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher. With four more years to develop, Cason has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Cason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.66 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Cason is a coachable C/3B prospect who is well-built. As a right-handed hitter, Cason has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He has a load and takes a short, on-time stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Cason shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path producing consistent contact. He tracks the ball well and has an aggressive approach. Behind the plate, Cason has a catcher's mentality as he is a vocal leader. He does a nice job blocking the baseball. Cason could benefit from presenting a lower target. He has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Cason has good momentum through his release showing consistent throws down to 2B. Overall, Cason is a hardworking prospect who has a versatile game.

11/05/2017 - National Tryout - Plano (DFW), TX Cason continues to work hard on his skills. As a hitter, this righty displays an athletic stance with centered balance. He barrels the ball up, swinging against a firm front side and creates consistent/hard contact. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path will help to increase bat speed resulting in more pop. Behind the plate, Cason sits in and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He works around the ball and frames well. Throws down to 2B are accurate with pop times now at 2.81. Continuing to develop his exchange while gaining ground towards 2B will help pop times to drop. Only a 2023 grad, Blease is a hard worker who still has a ton of time to develop and get stronger.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Cason continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.97 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/09/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Cason is a solid catcher who will graduate in 2023. Behind the plate, he presents a low target and tracks pitches into his mitt. He's aggressive to block and makes accurate throws down to 2B coming from a clean exchange. Offensively, Cason displays a square/balanced setup. He explodes his lower 1/2 generating power in his swing and creates consistent contact with each pitch. He has a ton of talent with upside on the diamond. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicker footwork
2. Develop soft hands
3. Clean exchange to throw
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed/hands
3. Level bat path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
