07/30/2018 - College PREP - York, PA Cavan is a young second base prospect who shows great strength for his age and has promise all over the field. He displays impressive feel to hit with the ability to deliver the barrel to the ball and make solid contact. He is an athlete in the box who moves well in his load and stride to launch his swing on time. He takes coaching well and is able to translate what he learns in drills to the field, showing lots of potential for extra base ability at the plate. At second, he shows active footwork that allows him to get good jumps on the ball and cover plenty of ground. He can make all of the plays, fielding square and shows quick hands to make good DP feeds. Working on his backhand technique will make him a complete defender at second base. Cavan is an intriguing prospect who shows lots of promise on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
