07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Chad continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he continues to show best through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball shows a range of 73-74 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chad is a strong, well-built 3B prospect who has a talented skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Chad has a square setup with a centered balance. He has high hands with a simple load and soft stride. Chad has controlled rhythm and shows fast bat speed. He has a smooth swing path and rotates his core well. Chad has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Chad works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball with a firm glove in a narrow position. Chad throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a stiff arm action. He gives a nice double play feed with accurate throws. Overall, Chad has skill on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

07/15/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Chad is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that made several adjustments through the training weekend. At the hot corner, Chad is on time with his prep step, presents a low/early glove, and has a clean exchange. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Chad starts in a closed stance and hits off a firm front side. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact. This will help him drive the ball to all fields and see the ball longer into the contact zone. On the bump, Chad gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He needs to continue to drive the back leg toward the plate and work north to south. Chad will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Chad continued to show as a prospect on the diamond during the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Chad shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He makes accurate throws across the diamond and keeps them on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and gets back into his load well. He takes a direct swing to the ball leading to solid line drives. Chad is a skilled prospect with upside on the diamond.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Chad continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has outstanding strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/17/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Chad is a young 3B/OF who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Chad throws well with a short arm action and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Chad can improve defensively by getting into a lower position to field and by following his throws. At the plate, Chad sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time to meet the ball. He gets back into his load well and comes through the zone with his lower half, producing hard contact and gap to gap pop. Chad can improve as a hitter by shortening his load and by keeping his top hand on the bat throughout his swing. Mental makeup is a plus as Chad displayed a great attitude and worked hard during the event. Overall, Chad is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
