Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

06/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Plano (DFW), TX Chad is an OF/LHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build, with strong lower half, and plenty of room to add throughout. In the OF, showed active/efficient footwork, with ability to cover ground in all directions, and made routine plays. Aggressive routes enable him to create good fielding angles as he works through the ball. A high 1-hand catch as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with momentum on his throws into infield at 86mph. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher gathers over rubber and rotates to target with good direction down the mound. Attacks hitters with his FB that sits 73-77mph with arm side run, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with tight spin, and a changeup with good arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. A left-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and square stance. Smooth timing to swing, with activated hands, and has natural strength in swing. Hits into a firm frontside with a fast bat through the hitting zone. A direct barrel path enables him to hit hard line drives to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/23/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Chad is a coachable OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Chad shows efficient footwork and makes the routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Chad improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance with his hands held high. He gets into a simple load and takes a level swing, producing solid line drives. Chad can improve as a hitter by getting his stride foot down sooner. With four more years to develop, Chad has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

02/16/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Highland Park (DFW), TX Chad is a young, solid, 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Chad has a presentable glove, efficient footwork, and he covers ground well. He catches the ball at its highest point, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and carry through to his cut off man. On the mound, this lefty pitcher has a quick arm circle, he separates his hands on time, and lands in a square position toward home plate. Offensively, Chad has an athletic stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has explosive bat speed, he makes hard/consistent contact, and he uses his lower body well. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Fielding position
2. Accuracy
Pitching
1. Extension
2. Arm strength
Offense
1. Stride
2. Avoid diving to contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
