09/25/2016 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Chance is a talented, athletic two-way prospect. As a 2B, Chance plays with active footwork giving him agile range to cover good ground. He has a nice approach as he presents his glove and receives the ball softly. Chance has good hands with a quick, clean exchange leading into a short, loose arm action. He works with momentum towards his target producing throws online with carry. Offensively, Chance has a tall, square stance and his lower half leading the way with a short stride. He has smooth rhythm with his load and is working to develop a short bat path. Chance produces square contact and sprays the baseball to all fields. On the mound, Chance pitches with a balanced, on-time delivery with a loose, clean arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He maintains square direction with a controlled landing and his chest over his front knee. Chance has good command on his fastball at 73-77 MPH. He has good tilt on his CB at 66-69 MPH. Chance is a developing prospect with good upside as he continues to polish his skills.

03/13/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Chance showed as a 2B plus on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the MIF, feet are athletic as he works around balls and presents glove well out front through a low approach. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/turns of the double play. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and uses the middle of the field well. Power will increase as he loads more and works more aggressively through the lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and displays sinking action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

09/06/2015 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Chance is an athletic MIF who continues to show well. He shows active prep and moves fluidly around the GB. He works low from the ground-up, funneling to a quick/clean exchange. Footwork is quick as he turns the DP efficiently. With the bat, this righty has an athletic/balanced setup with a solid base. He takes an aggressive hack on a level path. Loose hands whip the bat through the zone as he sprays the ball to all parts of the field. Chance is a smooth fielding MIF who can make things happen when he steps onto the diamond.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Chance is a great kid who is a good teammate, very coachable and makes adjustments. Defensively he showed good quickness, body control and arm strength. Chance can improve by continuing to polish his fielding position, footwork and arm strength. On the mound he gathers well, finishes with good extension and throws strikes. Areas for improvement include controlling balance point, getting more hip load from stretch and develop off-speed pitches. At the plate Chance is direct to the ball, showed good balance, swing path and barrel accuracy. He needs to continue to get as many reps as possible to polish his skills as a hitter.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
