09/21/2022 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2024) Chance is a tall, athletic 3B/RHP out of Morro Bay, CA who is a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus (7.31 60 time) as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (88 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with near pro level power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with a 2B and RBI. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 76-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 2 years to further develop, Chance has a lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.
